Yesterday, at 4:18 PM our first alarm was struck for a house fire in the 1800 block of Cardiff Road in Blacklick Township. 43 assistant arrived first reporting heavy smoke showing from the delta side of the duplex. He was quickly advised by neighbors that the occupants still may be inside the residence. He quickly snapped into action finding one female patient inside the home just beyond the front door, and pulled her to safety. Once the female was outside, several neighbors jumped in to help render aid to the female, as units had not arrived yet.

Truck 43 quickly arrived and positioned to the front of the residence, immediately placing a hose line in service, and splitting with a search crew. With both crews working simultaneously, they knocked down the fire, and located a second patient inside the residence. The male patient was brought outside to an awaiting EMS crew and CPR was initiated. Both patients were transported to a local trauma center and as of last evening where being cared for. A dog was also located inside the residence, using one of our recently donated pet oxygen masks, and an attempt at resesutatuon, the dog unfortunately succumbed to its injuries.

The fire was ruled accidental, and was contained to the kitchen of the residence. The bravo side of the duplex was not harmed by the fire itself and only had minor smoke damage. One firefighter was transported to the ER for evaluation and has since been released.

Units on scene were Truck 43, engine 43, rescue 43, tanker 43, squad 43, (Jackson Township) engine 42-2, squad 42, (Colver) attack 40 and squad 40, (Blacklick Valley EMS) medic 46-1, medic 46-2, (Jackson Twp.
